ACTION PLAN (POSTED 13 FEB)

The West Mersea Town Council Action Plan was approved at the Council Meeting held on 8th February 2024, and updated on 13 March 2024. 

West Mersea Town Council strives to work on behalf of the residents to ensure that West Mersea is a well maintained and attractive place to live. The Town Council welcomes comments and suggestions for new projects. This Action Plan covers a three-year period, owing to the size and complexity of the projects that the Town Council are planning to undertake.
The plan also includes the ongoing general maintenance work that the Town Council is obliged to undertake as well as less financially demanding projects which are enhancing to the local environment. The plan is reviewed on an annual basis alongside the budget and updated when applicable.
Items on this Action Plan are in the budget, but note that these are subject to change, pending Town Council approval.

PROJECTS & MAINTENANCE COMPLETED

The War Memorial was renovated in readiness for the Remembrance Day Service in 2023. 

          

Footpath 20, between High Street and Barfield Road was cut back in October 2023, as was the footpath between Mill Road and Windsor Road.

Do you have land, including your garden, near a road, or overhanging a footpath? Please make sure your boundary trees and hedges are cut back. Trees left unmaintained can blow over or shed leaves and branches onto the road or footpaths.

The Glebe Recreation Ground car park resurfacing work was completed in September 2023.

     

Two litter bins were installed in West Mersea Park in September 2023. A litter bin by the bench in Reymead Meadow, and a compactor bin next to the existing recycling bins in School Gardens. 

      

Single Point Swing in the Youth Field, West Mersea Park was refurbished with new joint assembly, chain assembly, chains and fixings in September 2023.

Sling Rotator Swing in the Youth Field, West Mersea Park was rebuilt and reinstated in September 2023. 

 

Three recycled plastic benches were installed on the beach at the bottom of Monkey Steps, Coast Road in August 2023. 

A new sign was installed on Village Green 241 in Coast Road in August 2023.

A new sign was installed at the Glebe Recreation Ground in August 2023. 

   
The sign advertises the home ground of Oyster Football Club, Mersea Island Football Club, Mersea Island Rugby Football Club, West Mersea Cricket Club and West Mersea Tennis and Croquet Club.
