HIGH TIDES

Mersea Island is connected to the mainland via a causeway which at some high tides becomes completely submerged. Please check the tide times before travelling to Mersea and do not attempt to drive across the causeway when it is under water. This can cause danger to life and the salt water can badly damage your vehicle.
