COMMUNITY SPECIAL CONSTABLES FOR MERSEA (UPDATED MAY 2021)

West Mersea Town Council has reached agreement with Essex Police to sponsor the provision of up to 4 Community Special Constables (CSC) for West Mersea. CSCs are volunteer police officers, holding the same office and the same powers as regular officers; they wear the same uniform and carry the same equipment and are deployed to the same incidents. Being volunteers, CSCs are not paid but can claim mileage and duty allowances.
Two recruits are working their way through the training programme; both recruits have received their warrant card. All being well this will result in two Community Specials for Mersea when both have finished their post attestation training.
